Before and After
This 1845 Greek Revival cottage in Lexington, Massachusetts, was rundown, inefficient and, destined for demolition and landfill disposal in 2018. Yet, rich in character, nearly two centuries old, and constructed from solid old-growth timber, it embodied a level of craftsmanship rarely found today. However, as is often the case with old buildings, the prevailing assumption was that replacing it would be easier than preserving it.
